Brick Production Drying Plant

Interfaccia SCADA per il controllo di essiccatoio produzione mattoni

Identified Challenge

Opus Automazione developed a complete automation and supervision system for the control of a brick drying plant installed in Saudi Arabia.
The goal was to optimize cart handling and monitor humidity, temperature, and pressure in real time, ensuring uniformity and quality throughout the drying process.

Implemented Solution:

The project involved the full automation of cart handling inside the brick drying kiln. To continuously monitor operating conditions, the system collects real-time data from 36 humidity sensors, 30 pressure measurement points, and 36 temperature sensors.

All acquired values are processed and displayed via a dedicated SCADA system, providing a detailed graphical mapping of environmental variables within the dryer.

From a plant engineering perspective, Opus Automazione developed the central PLC control panel and five power electrical panels, each equipped with inverters up to 55 kW. These are used to control the air intake and exhaust fans (impeller and expeller), which are essential for the thermodynamic regulation of the process.

Software and Integration:

In addition to the hardware, Opus handled the design of the PLC-based supervision software, allowing for centralized and intuitive process management.

The field sensor connections were implemented with particular attention to signal accuracy and stability, ensuring reliable data acquisition even under critical environmental conditions.

The custom-developed operator interface provides comprehensive and simplified monitoring of every stage of the cycle.

Results Achieved:

Thanks to this solution, the plant benefits from precise and timely control of the drying cycle, achieved through an extensive network of environmental sensors.
The intelligent use of fans, dynamically regulated by inverters, also enables energy consumption optimization.

The integrated process management, with real-time visualization of key parameters, has improved operational efficiency and reduced the margin of error.
Finally, the robustness of the entire system makes it fully suitable for operation in high-temperature industrial environments with strict production standards.
